The Oregon wine production community is deeply saddened by the passing of the founder of Henry Estate Winery, Mr. Calvin Scott Henry III, at the age of 86.

Mr. Scott Henry was born in 1937 in the Umpqua Valley hills of Oregon and grew up in a farming family. From a young age, he had a passion for agriculture and dreamed of owning a vineyard. In 1972, he planted his first 12 acres of grapevines but faced numerous challenges due to harsh weather conditions.

In 2012, Mr. Scott Henry was honored by being inducted into the Engineering Hall of Fame at Oregon State University. Throughout his life, he tirelessly contributed to and made significant advancements in the American wine industry.

He passed away on October 26, leaving behind his wife, Sylvia Martin, and three children. A solemn funeral for Mr. Calvin Scott Henry III will be held at Roseburg Church next week. He will forever be a vibrant legend in the world of Oregon wine.
