Amel Larrieux (born Eliza Stowell on March 8, 1973) is an American singer-songwriter and keyboardist who was born in Los Angeles, California. Larrieux first gained widespread attention in the mid-1990s as a founding member of the duo Groove Theory, which included Bryce Wilson. As a result of her departure from the band in 1999, she went on to record her first solo album, Infinite Possibilities, the following year on Epic Records. Larrieux and her husband, producer laru Larrieux, established the indie label Blisslife Records in late 2003, on which she has so far produced five albums. Larrieux and her spouse have two children. Ella Fitzgerald, Prince, Sade, Ricki Lee Jones, Stevie Wonder, Shawn Colvin, Chaka Khan, John Lennon, Patrice Rushen, Jimi Hendrix, and Joni Mitchell are among the artists that have influenced Larrieux’s musical taste. She also mentions Ella Fitzgerald as an inspiration.
